We run grass and beach hat leagues on the Sunshine Coast, open to anyone - no experience, no friends needed. Just show up and we'll sort the rest.

Ultimate Frisbee is a self-refereed, mixed-gender, fast-moving outdoor sport. Our leagues use a "hat" format - you sign up solo and we build balanced teams for you.
What is ultimate, exactly?
It's a team sport played with a flying disc. Two teams score by catching the disc in the opposing end zone. You can't run while holding it - you have to throw it. No referees: players call their own fouls, which sounds chaotic but genuinely works.
Every game ends with a "spirit circle" - teams score each other on sportsmanship, not just the result. It keeps the vibe genuinely great.

When we're running pickup it's a casual, drop-in throw - no signup, no experience needed, just turn up. We don't run them every week at the moment, so check our Facebook group for details of any upcoming sessions.

Five weeks of mixed hat ultimate on Mooloolaba beach. Teams are picked to be balanced - total beginners are always on a team with experienced players. Turn up, throw discs make mates.
Tournaments we host
Our annual 4-a-side beach tournament, hosted right here on the Coast. Fast-paced, fun, a great first tournament.
We hostOur brand new one-day hat tournament held two weeks before the Spring grass league. Inaugural event 6 September 2026 - the perfect first tournament if you've never played one.
Squads & Teams
We field squads at a few different levels, so there's something for almost anyone keen on tournaments. Pride Cup, Sunny Coast 4s, Regionals, Nationals... Get in touch to find out what we've got coming up that may be suitable
Our mixed squad competes at the Australian Beach Ultimate Nationals each year. The pointier end of what we do - usually a season or two of league time before you'd jump in, sooner if you've come from a sporty background. Selection announced before each season.
We send squads to several Brisbane tournaments through the year, including Pride Cup. Plenty of first-season players make these squads - the level varies by event, if you want to take it a step further there'll be a tournament and team we can find for you.

A club built on showing up
Sunshine Coast Ultimate has been bringing people together through flying discs for years. We run grass and beach hat leagues and tournaments, and send squads to Beach Nationals and Brisbane every year.
The sport is self-refereed - no officials, no drama, just players who've agreed to be honest with each other. We take Spirit of the Game seriously. It's what makes the community genuinely great to be part of.
